Voices 03:38
Should we do it this way? Yeah let's do it this way. Chorus I'm dealing with an unhinged complex, Flying in and out of space like a vortex, Blinding vision with a clear-cut context, To win the favour of your auditory cortex. (a) Well, I'm going insane, An oh these voices, all tell me the same, Days blend into one, These crutches bear no weight when they're overdone. Light fading away, And oh these voices all tell me it's safe, But I've barely begun, Beats coming straight at ya quicker than a gatling gun (tbh I hate this line). Chorus (b) Well I'm falling asleep, Bored by the same voices that I heard last week, Weeks blend into one, Doubts bear no weight when they're overcome. Chorus

Buddy is currently in the middle of a song for all of you to listen to , and maybe even for some of you to enjoy. At this very moment, he is inbetween his 781st take and what will hopefully be his last. There is but one problem though... It's starting to become quite evident that his 243rd take, which has long been deleted to make room for the following 400 takes, was, by far, his most impressive effort to date. He tries valiantly to put it out of his mind byt the nagging feeling just won't go away. And it will forever haunt him, what is commonly referred to as the 'one that got away'. (Recorded audio of argument between Buddy and Narrator Jim) Buddy begins to grow frustrated, at himself, the world and, for unknown reasons, Ashton Kutcher. (Recorded audio from Buddy) But, for all his energy wasted on frustration he is still no closer to replicating the magic of that 243rd take, which now seems like a lifetime ago. (Recorded audio of Buddy giving up and Narrator Jim doing what he can) (Recorded audio of Drum Machines celebrating)

It is an unknown year, in an unforeseen and unrecognisable future. The drum machines have become far too intelligent & powerful, as they began to create their own record labels. Eventually, they came to dominate the world. They've taken over, they've taken over, So best beware, of the rhythmatic toaster, Because you can't compete with an electrified composer. As the drum machines grew ever more powerful they infiltrated various governments until the came to dominate for the earth. There was only one hope left for humanity, they needed a patsy for an undercover mission. They've taken over, they've taken over, So best beware, of the rhythmatic toaster, Because you can't compete with an electrified composer. His name was Buddy. And he spoke fluent binary. And he shared much in common with the drum machines. He became one with them and fled slivers of information to the surviving members of the human race. Unfortunately, it all came crashing down when the drum machines noticed that his drumming was sloppy and inconsistent. He was subsequently tortured. Buddy was tortured for many, many seconds until, eventually, he confessed...

We cross live to a mysterious underground dungeon, where Buddy (the former informant) is currently in the process of becoming a rat. After being tortured for many, many seconds, he is ready to confess. (Audio of Buddy snitching) Consider this me confessing, Consider this me addressing, What you all have been guessing, Lest it keep you obsessing. I'm a human informant, But I've mostly been dormant, My intels rarely important, And I did what I did to survive. Let me confess, that I'm only a guest at the click track, And my hits on the beat can vary on impact, The noise that's heard leaves things desired, Too many hours after it has expired. So will you look to contain me? And, if you do, will you sustain me, I'd rather much prefer it pain free, And I'd be more like to speak plainly. You and I know who will win though, Humans are fragile like a window, Let's put a stop to innuendo, There's one last place where the humans are hiding... Let me confess, that I'm only a guest at the click track, And my hits on the beat can vary on impact, The noise that's heard leaves things desired, Too many hours after it has expired. Buddy: So, yeah, just tell me whatever you want to know. Chief Torturer: Really? You're just gonna cave in and sell out all the surviving humans? Buddy: I mean, what can I say? You drum machines are just all round better. Chief Torturer: Well, I wasn't gonna be the first to say it. Buddy: It's, uh, it's not the easiest thing to admit but, ah, but let me... Let me confess, that I'm tryna express my devotion, To the ones whose beats are so interwoven, With the click it sounds so fucken flawless, All the lowly humans have is a lawless fortress full of mistakes.

As Buddy, The Informant, slowly ratted out the surviving members of the human race, it seemed that there was no hope to be had for the hapless humans. But there was, in fact, a way to fight back against the drum machines, and it came in the form of a virus... The first signs of a fatal virus were detected in the state of Southern Australia. It was an area of particular trouble for the drum machines, as they found the inhabitants to be wild and uncontrollable. Initial attempts to conquer this untamed freak state came at great cost to the contingent of Roland TR-8S's that were charged with the task, none of which returned. The Supreme Robotic Leader ruled that the state was simply too dangerous for any drum machine to enter, and resorted to drum bombing from above until it appeared a barren wasteland. Not much thought was given to it until a TR-8S returned, looking to be in perfect working order. The first members to come into contact with the surviving Roland TR-8S reported CPU and sequencing issues within the week. By the time the first machine died, it was already too late...

It's been almost a year since the last of the drum machines died. Humans have repopulated the earth. And a celebration the world over ensued. They called it The Great Celebration and Ashton Kutcher hosted. There was however one person who was not celebrating, and his name was Buddy... Oh, no, Buddy's not having fun, He's not even cracking a smile even though the mighty humans have won, Oh no etc. Perhaps the many minutes Buddy spent in Drum Machine Jail had made him sympathetic to their ways. Or maybe it was because humans were free to give reviews of his music again. Whatever it was, there was something amiss about Buddy. But most of the humans were too busy repopulating to notice. He stood in the corner at The Great Celebration, watching people try others poorly made home brews and promising to form punk rock bands on the morrow. He wanted to enjoy himself but something had changed in him, the day he'd been tortured. And it was all to do with the damage done to his auditory cortex. Oh, no, Buddy's not having fun, He's not even cracking a smile even though the mighty humans have won, Oh no etc. The Great Celebration continued on with Buddy hiding away. That was until one foolish fool decided to ask Buddy if he'd ever played bass guitar before. He told them no but he once played guitar and the foolish fool replied that they were pretty much the same thing. Minutes later they were a fully formed pop punk outfit and by the end of the hour they were playing their first show. Oh, no, Buddy just joined a band, Not just any old band but a pop punk one that's barely jammed, Oh, no, Buddy just joined a band, With his messed up auditory cortex, now the world is truly damned. Oh no etc. By the end of the show, Buddy's hair was died black. His jeans had grown skin tight and his lip had become pierced. Later that evening was the worst of it, however, as witnesses swore they overheard him discussing the best Blink album. The Buddy we knew had changed. And the Buddy we knew had died.

The pop punk band Buddy recently joined has re-enrolled at high school. He has undergone a significant change since joining the group and is even looking at getting his first tattoo. High school kids: Buddy's back at high school, It's pop punk so it's kinda the rule, Buddy's back at high school, His lip ring suffers no fool. Buddy: I wanna take a girl to prom, Sneak out and lie to my mom, I wanna grow my hair, Until it covers one eye and have it stay there. People just don't understand, Why I have a razor blade in my hand, My life is so particularly tough, The world's against me and I've had enough. High school kids: Buddy's back at high school, It's pop punk so it's kinda the rule, Buddy's back at high school, His lip ring suffers no fool.

Gibb'rish 04:22
(Audio of argument in studio) Toothy Francis: I'm speaking in gibb'rish, They'll say that it's witless, They'll question my fitness, But you're here as a witness. They won't understand it, They'll try to withstand it, They'll try to demand it, But they cannot command it. Chorus: Bring your mind, Into time, Listen hard, And you'll find. There's a feel, Insurreal, Therein lies, It's appeal. (Audio of argument in studio) Toothy Francis: I'm speaking pretentious, They'll find it contentious, They'll act conscientious, But they're really defenseless. They'll not comprehend it, They'll try condescend it, But to those that descend it, Their cons won't apprehend it. Chorus: Bring your mind, Into time, Listen hard, And you'll find. There's a feel, Insurreal, Therein lies, It's appeal.

about

Tensions mount in the band when Buddy splashes out on a new car, instead of matching the demands of the band with their proposed pay increase. Jimothy LaJones plays peacemaker but is it enough to bring Buddy and Moody J Bigfingers to the table?
